You Might See a Ghost in the Haunted Hospital Wendy's in Linton, Indiana

Home to around 5,000 people, Linton is much like many other small towns in Indiana. John W. Wines established a general store here in the 1830s and later built both a tannery and a horse mill. Chartered in 1850, Linton earned a place in history during the late 19^th century when it became a sundown town. One of the main features of the town is the Green County Hospital.

Knowing the town needed a hospital as locals needed to go so far to get medical help, Job Freeman and his wife donated their former home to Linton. Known as Freeman City Hospital for many years, it became the Freeman-Greene County General Hospital in 1929. Though it had just 22 beds and a small staff, the hospital was the go-to spot for the men injured in the local coal mines.

Over the years, the hospital kept growing and expanding. One of the later additions was a Wendy's, a fast food restaurant that was popular with staff and visitors. Called the Old Greene County Hospital by some, the on-site restaurant is supposedly haunted.

While I have yet to hear anyone claim the hospital itself is haunted, many have stories about the restaurant. Founded by Dave Thomas in Ohio, Wendy's is a popular chain with thousands of locations. Though it has regular business hours, workers experienced some strange things after the restaurant closed.

Some heard people talking and laughing in the dining room while working in the back. When they came out, the dining room was empty. Others heard the sounds of people crying or moaning. They even claimed it sounded like someone was in pain or dying.

Like other haunted spots, the Linton Wendy's also has things that go missing or get moved. Managers often arrive in the morning to see cans and boxes moved, even if they were the last ones out the night before. One employee claimed she closed down the restaurant and opened it the next morning when another manager was sick. She arrived to find several tables and chairs toppled over. It looked as though something crashed through the ceiling and landed on top of them, but the ceiling was fine.
